MINNEAPOLIS, November 2, 2011 – Capella University, an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high-quality online degree programs for working adults, has announced two new specializations, Marketing and Finance, within its Doctor of Business Administration. As of September 30, 2011, more than 35,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), with nearly 80 percent enrolled in Capella's doctoral degree programs and master's degree programs. The learning and career outcomes of Capella's students and alumni can be found at www.capellaresults.org.
"We developed our online DBA and the new DBA Marketing and Finance specializations with global businesses in mind," said William Reed, PhD, acting dean of Capella's School of Business and Technology. "A global perspective is integrated throughout the curriculum and our students can participate in an optional international experience that provides firsthand experience of the role culture plays in global business operations. In addition, because Capella is an online university, our student population is not limited by geography. This provides our students opportunities to build national and international professional networks, both online and via three face-to-face weekend residencies that are part of our DBA program."
To provide students with a clear path toward completing their DBA in three years, Capella's program features a prescribed course sequence, ongoing mentoring, and built-in dissertation milestones. Both the Marketing and Finance specializations feature a core curriculum of applied research, strategy, leadership, and ethics focused on developing the advanced skills and knowledge needed to lead organizations, provide strategic advice, and educate the next generation of marketing or finance professionals.
Capella's DBA specialization in Marketing covers such topics as the role of media and technological integration in marketing strategy and execution, and the many ways that culture influences both consumer and business-to-business marketing. Capella's DBA specialization in Finance includes intensive coursework that explores current and emerging global finance theory, financial institutions, financial reporting, and investment and portfolio management.
Capella's new DBA specializations in Marketing and Finance join the online university's existing DBA specializations in Business Intelligence, Global Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Strategy and Innovation.
