Capella University, an accredited online university, to partner with Food Lifeline to host a volunteer event on Oct. 8 near Seattle

Students, faculty, staff and friends of the online university to gather to help those less fortunate

MINNEAPOLIS, October 6, 2011 Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, is partnering with Food Lifeline's Shoreline Volunteer Repack Center in Shoreline, Wash., to host a volunteer event on Oct. 8. From 1 – 4 p.m., several dozen Capella students, faculty, staff and friends are expected to gather to help with a variety of tasks, including labeling packaged products, inspecting and sorting food donations, and repackaging bulk donated products. The goal is to get thousands of pounds of food out to those who need it most.

Food Lifeline is a member of Feeding America, which is a featured non-profit for Capella's Inspire Giving program.

This is one of several volunteer events that Capella has hosted in the past couple of years to help those less fortunate. Past events have taken place in locations such as New York, Atlanta, and San Francisco.

As of June 30, 2011, more than 38,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), with 31 percent enrolled in Capella's doctoral degree programs, and 47 percent enrolled in Capella's master's degree programs.
