The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredits Capella University's Bachelors of Science in Information Technology

The online university program is one of only a few online degree programs to have received ABET accreditation

MINNEAPOLIS, September 20, 2011 ABET, Inc., has accredited Capella University's Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program, one of only a few online degree programs to have received ABET accreditation. Capella is an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults. As of June 30, 2011, more than 38,000 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella University (http://www.capella.edu). ABET, Inc., is the recognized accreditor for college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology. Organizations often require ABET accreditation of their educational partners.

Having received ABET accreditation, Capella's Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program has achieved three gold standards in the field, which are: ABET accreditation, accreditation by The Project Management (PMIĀ®) Global Accreditation Center for Project Management (GAC), and being designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAEIAE) by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
