The 2007 Blackboard Exemplary Course Program™ recognized two of the online university’s courses
MINNEAPOLIS, July 24, 2007 Capella University, an accredited online university, has been named one of the 2007 Blackboard Greenhouse Exemplary Course™ winners. The course that was honored, Public Speaking, was one of 10 courses chosen for the award.
Public Speaking, a course in the online university's School of Undergraduate Studies, was honored for its use of Breeze online meeting technology, webcams, headsets, and Capella's online courseroom, which allows speeches to be delivered to students and instructors at locations around the world.
Another course at Capella, Communication Strategies for the IT Professional, was named a best practice by the Blackboard Greenhouse Exemplary Course Program. The course was commended for its model development and for its use of a rubric that aligns with course objectives. It was one of five courses recognized for best practices in teaching and learning.
The exemplary course program recognizes courses that model best practices in learning, course design, interaction and collaboration, assessment and evaluation, meaningful technology use, and learner support. Winners were chosen through a peer review process that included faculty members from a variety of universities.
