MINNEAPOLIS, July 20, 2010 - Capella University (http://www.capella.edu) has been named a winner of two Blackboard Catalyst Awards for Exemplary Course Design. The Blackboard Exemplary Course Program annually recognizes faculty who develop exciting and innovative courses that represent the very best in e-learning. The courses, "Women's Literature" and "Foundations of Enterprise Leadership and Management I," are recognized as best practices for other institutions seeking to design engaging online courses. Capella was also recognized through the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program in 2007 and 2009.More than 37,100 students are pursuing an online degree at Capella, with 32 percent enrolled in doctoral degree programs, 48 percent enrolled in master's degree programs, and 20 percent in bachelor's degree programs.

"We want to recognize the winners of the 2010 Blackboard Catalyst Awards for their outstanding efforts and excellence when approaching course design," said Ray Henderson, President of Blackboard Learn. "The winners' creativity, thought leadership and passion is transforming the learning experience for students and learners, and we celebrate those accomplishments. We're excited the Blackboard community as a whole can share and benefit from this group's exemplary courses."

Capella faculty and staff who were involved with the development of the courses were honored alongside the other Exemplary Course Program (ECP) winners during BbWorld®'2010, Blackboard's annual users' conference held last week in Orlando, FL.

Since 2000, the Blackboard Exemplary Course Program has highlighted technologically rich courses that are engaging, well designed, and pedagogically sound, and that represent examples of best practices for the e-learning community. This year's entries were evaluated in a rigorous peer-review process by a panel of more than 120 faculty judges from institutions around the world.
