Capella University faculty member to present to the School Transportation News EXPO on July 25 in Reno

Dr. Duane Dobbert, a faculty member with the online university's School of Public Service Leadership, will present on characteristics and behaviors of sexual predators

MINNEAPOLIS, July 20, 2009 -- Dr. Duane Dobbert, author, criminologist and Capella University faculty member, will be bringing his four decades of experience as a forensic behavioral analyst to attendees of the School Transportation News (STN) EXPO (www.schoolbusconference.com) on July 25 in Reno, Nevada. Capella University (www.capella.edu) is an accredited*, fully online university that has built its reputation by providing quality education for working adults.

Expanding on his past workshops at the STN conference, Dr. Dobbert will be presenting "Understanding and Identifying Sexual Predators," a seminar that will thoroughly and explicitly examine the nature, characteristics and precursor behaviors of sexual predators, and will give attendees the tools to help identify predators, prevent possible attacks or abductions and bring them to justice.

"I initiate the training with a statistical and demographic analysis of the incidence of child sexual assault and the current legislation that is the foundation of the national sex offender registry, GPS surveillance of registered sex offenders and Child Abduction Response Teams (CART)," Dobbert said.

The four-hour course has received accreditation from the Nevada Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education, the Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers, and the Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners for continuing education units.

This summer will also mark the release of Dr. Dobbert's third book, Psychopathy, Perversion, and Lust Homicide. His past books include Halting the Sexual Predators Among Us: Preventing Attack, Rape, and Lust Homicide (2004) and Understanding Personality Disorders (2007).

Dr. Dobbert will also discuss the role of student transportation with a CART during an Amber Alert, something that he will give more detail on during his second workshop, "Law Enforcement & School Transportation Collaboration on Amber Alerts," scheduled to be given during the regular EXPO conference on July 29. Attendees will be given specific recommendations on how school transportation departments can help law enforcement during an Amber Alert.
