Albright will speak at the online university’s residential colloquium June 4 in Anaheim
MINNEAPOLIS, May 31, 2007 – Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will speak to master's and PhD students from Capella University, an accredited, online university, as part of the online university's residential colloquium on Monday June 4 in Anaheim, Calif.
Each year, Capella hosts eight residential colloquia, during which certain of the online university's students meet with their peers and faculty in a variety of workshops and presentations related to their degree specializations. Every Capella PhD student and some master's students are required to attend up to three colloquia, which are held at locations throughout the United States. Of the more than 19,000 students pursuing an online degree at Capella, 85 percent are PhD and master's students.
Albright served as the first female secretary of state and the highest-ranking woman in the United States government from 1997–2001. She was also an ambassador to the United Nations, and has dedicated her life to international study. She will be speaking as part of Capella's Distinguished Speakers Series. This series began with an address by Ray Suarez of The NewsHour at the university's Dallas commencement ceremony in July 2005, and has since featured speakers such as Doris Kearns Goodwin and Maya Angelou.
