MINNEAPOLIS, March 14, 2011 – Capella University (www.capella.edu), an accredited online university* that has built its reputation by providing high quality online degree programs for working adults, has been invited to discuss the online university's best practices for blended learning at the 8th Annual Sloan Consortium Blended Learning Conference and Workshop: Evidence to Practice: Fulfilling the Promise. The conference, which is being held March 28 and 29 in Oak Brook, Illinois, will provide an opportunity for administrative leaders, faculty members, instructional designers and researchers to discover and share effective practices in blended learning. Randy Johnson, PhD, faculty chair and colloquia lead at Capella, and Tom Godfrey, course development supervisor for Capella's Next Generation Learning department, will deliver a presentation on how a redesign to create a blended learning experience for the university's PhD colloquia improved students’ preparation before the event, helped to maximize the experience during the event, and provided a way to better assess learning outcomes.
"The staff and faculty at Capella University are committed to continuously improving the quality of our programs," Dr. Johnson commented. "The PhD colloquia redesign project is a great example of our cross-functional teams working together to think beyond our traditional learning delivery methods in order to provide the best learning experience possible."
