Arizona's State Board of Education approves Capella University's Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School Psychology

The approval allows the online university to accept new learners who are not already licensed school psychologists

MINNEAPOLIS, November 13, 2012 – Arizona's State Board of Education has granted approval for Capella University's Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School Psychologyonline degree program. That approval now enables Capella to accept new learners into the program – not only from Arizona, but from almost every state - who are not already (or previously) licensed school psychologists. “In most states, this approval will allow someone who has been a teacher for years, who has always wanted to earn a doctorate and become a school psychologist, to accomplish that goal,” said Laren Winter, Ed.D., LSP, LPC, LMFT, faculty chair for Capella University's School Psychology specialization. “This approval provides recognition of our program by a state that gives approval to programs that are fully aligned at the national level, and is recognized by many other states as a top rating.”

Aligned with national curriculum standards for school psychology, Capella's Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in School Psychology program is the first and only school psychology PsyD offered online. People who choose this program are typically pursuing supervisory careers within school psychology; higher education faculty positions; consulting roles; or leadership roles in P–12 school systems and higher education.
