Sr. Data Analyst-Business Intelligence #6123
This Sr. Data Analyst concentrates on understanding business needs for data, specification of business metrics and information. Responsibilities include all of the activities necessary to acquire data from sources or existing data warehouse and to transform and cleanse the data. The body of knowledge includes concepts and skills for data analysis and source qualification, data profiling, source/target mapping, data cleansing and transformation. Also, deep knowledge and understanding of the current IStrategy Data Warehouse system, to provide expertise on the data availability.
Communicates with Business Intelligence Business Analyst(s) to translate business rules and requirements into technical documentation that would be used by Developers and Quality Analysts. Accumulate the knowledge on data and structures of the existing Data Warehouse System to act as a gatekeeper on new customizations and updates. Provide guidelines and design documentation for the ETL (extract, transform, load) development.
Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the resolution of complex data problems related to data warehouse (DW) and business intelligence (BI) implementations.
- Create and maintain documentation to assist new and ongoing development.
- Work with the team of developers to implement data validation and data transformation processes including monitoring capabilities.
- Develop close relationships with business and application teams to promote appropriate Data Warehouse understanding and usage.
- Put forward the effort to learn and become an expert on the Data structures for both; source systems and DW environments.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as a Data Analyst with experience in Data Warehouse data analysis, and data modeling conceptual, logical, and physical data design
- Strong analytical skills (business and data) and strong problem solving skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies, architectures, and development best practices.
- Strong knowledge of ETL design and implementation using standard industry tools and best practices.
- Strong working knowledge of meta-data management and data quality/governance processes
- Some SQL & PL/SQL development skills in SQL Server and Oracle platforms.
- Must be able to function independently or as a part of a large, integrated cross-functional team.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills interacting with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with Business Intelligence reporting and data access tools (i.e. Business Objects, Cognos, MS SQL 2005 Analysis Services.)
- Domain knowledge in Educational Services is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
