Benefits & HRIS Manager #6195

Provide leadership to the Benefits, Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and HR Operations/data maintenance function in support of Capella's business strategies. Accountabilities for this working manager role include research, analysis, plan design, administration, communication, reporting and compliance for benefit offerings; HRIS design and reporting; HR Inbox/call center administration; data maintenance/record keeping; policy development and administration, and compensation administration support. The manager, partnering with HR and Information Technology leaders, will lead the development and implementation of short- and long-term technology plans to automate administrative processes, eliminate/reduce paper transactions, improve efficiencies and data integrity, and move towards manager and employee self-service.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading people: communicating expectations and providing meaningful performance feedback, coaching and learning opportunities to employees.
  • Ensuring high quality service delivery and customer satisfaction with HR transactional processes and record-keeping. Partners closely with the HR team and the Finance/Payroll and Legal departments.
  • Benefits plan design, administration and compliance: ensuring that plan designs are competitive, and that documentation, communications, record keeping, plan filings, and reporting procedures meet legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Developing, administering and communicating HR policies.
  • Providing support for compensation plan design and administration and Compensation Committee deliverables. Includes salary plan and stock plan administration.
  • Providing support to the Retirement Plan Investment Committee.
  • Managing and maintaining HR systems (such as performance management and equity systems outside of PeopleSoft), HR records and HRIS data, ensuring data integrity and meeting the HR/employee-related reporting needs of the company.
  • Ensuring effective implementation and communication of Capella compensation and benefits programs to include employee benefits orientation, annual open enrollment processes, summary plan descriptions, total compensation statements, policies, employee communications/postings on company intranet and bulletin boards and managing HR inbox/call center.
  • Developing technology infrastructure, documentation and metrics for key processes and procedures.
  • Championing continuous improvement through implementing best practices and developing/redesigning processes and systems to improve productivity and customer service.
  • Leading internal/external benefits and HRIS audit processes.
  • Managing relationships with benefit and HR systems vendors, including assessment of performance, negotiating rate renewals and managing proposal/vendor selection processes as needed.
  • Providing input into the development of the annual department business plan and operating budget and managing expenses within the established budget.
  • Carrying out other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, psychology or related field.
  • 7+ years of professional-level experience in benefits design, administration, communciation and compliance. At least 2 years staff management experience, preferably in Human Resources. Compensation analysis and design experience and CEBS certification desirable.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills: ability to lead, motivate and develop employees.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with health & welfare and retirement benefit plan design, research and analysis, communication, administration, regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with retirement investment committees a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with PeopleSoft human resource information system design (version 8.9 or higher strongly preferred ), implementation and usage.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to improve effectiveness of HR services and transaction processing. Experience with employee and manager self-service highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects to completion, on-time and within budget.
  • Ability to apply innovative and strategic thinking to planning and analysis, requiring a focus on both quality and delivering high-volume results.
  • Experience working in high-growth, dynamic organizations.
  • Demonstrated bias for action with a strong results orientation.
  • Highly adept at partnering and influencing throughout the organization at all levels.
  • High degree of organization and detail management; ability to deliver day-to-day results while improving processes.
  • Applied knowledge of HR practices, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience partnering with key business units outside of staffing, such as Finance, Legal and Sr. Leadership functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly PC literate; strong Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Working Conditions: Normal office work

This position is based in Capella's corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota and relocation assistance is not provided.
