Assessment Specialist #6222

The Assessment Specialist helps university leaders obtain the learning outcomes data they need in order to achieve their goals. This important work draws upon a diverse set of professional, academic, technical, and inter-personal competencies. The Assessment Specialist will construct strategies for measuring learning outcomes, develop and validate new instruments, provide evidence to support the credibility of learning outcomes data, and facilitate the utilization of learning outcome assessment data.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of university-, school- and program-level assessment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to develop and support program learning outcomes assessment plans.
  • Aggregate, analyze and assist in interpreting results of program-based assessment to drive continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Facilitate utilization of learning outcomes data to improve curriculum and instruction.
  • Support the development of academic assessment at residential colloquia.
  • Represent the Office of Assessment & Institutional Research on academic program review teams.
  • Collaborate to develop and implement a curriculum on assessment for faculty development, to be delivered online and face-to-face.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations concerning assessment instruments and practices.
  • Employ evaluation techniques based on alignment, psychometric properties and internal/external client feedback to improve tests and measurements.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field or Bachelor's degree coupled with appropriate level of experience (educational measurement & cognitive science focus preferred.)
  • Minimum 1–3 years related experience in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professional communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data analytics and reporting.

This position is based in Capella's corporate headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota and relocation assistance is not provided.
