Adjunct Faculty Positions
Capella University offers the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and PhD degrees in Information Technology. Responsibilities and requirements for undergraduate and graduate level teaching are listed below.
Responsibilities:
Adjunct faculty are part-time faculty who serve as independent contractors teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in the core and specialty curriculum of information technology. Core and adjunct faculty work collaboratively to assure the learner's educational experiences are consistent with prevailing standards.
- Bachelor of Science Program
At the undergraduate level, we are seeking faculty to teach in the areas of:
- Enterprise or Software Architecture
- Information Assurance and Security
- Network Technology
- Master of Science in Information Technology
For the master's program, we are seeking faculty to teach in all areas of information technology, particularly in:
- Enterprise Architecture
- Health Information Management, including Health Care Informatics and Security
- Information Assurance
- Network Architecture and Design, including Wireless and Mobile Development
- Project Management
- PhD in Information Technology
For the PhD program, we are seeking faculty to teach in all areas of information technology. Current openings include:
- Information Assurance
- Information Technology Management
- Project Management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science program applicants:
- MBA or MS degree from a regionally accredited institution with emphasis in the specialization area; PhD preferred
- College level teaching experience of 2 to 3 years or more; on-line teaching experience preferred
- Significant professional experience
- Evidence of supporting learner success and teaching in an online environment
- Master of Science and PhD program applicants:
- PhD in Information Technology or Science, Computer Science, or other relevant doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution with emphasis in the specialization area; for project management, PMP certification preferred
- College level teaching experience of 2 to 3 years or more; on-line teaching experience preferred
- Significant practitioner experience in a corporate or consulting environment or its equivalent
- Demonstration of scholarly or practitioner contributions at industry and/or academic conferences in the area of expertise
- Experience mentoring and supervising graduate level research preferred
- Evidence of supporting learner success and a commitment to teaching in an online environment
