Capella University's is hiring adjunct faculty in the Harold Abel School of Psychology in the following specializations: Industrial/Organizational Psychology; Educational Psychology; and General Psychology. Initial assignment will be to provide mentoring and development of learner research via the following activities: MS integrative projects; PhD comprehensive examinations; and dissertation mentoring and committees.
Adjunct faculty are part-time faculty who serve as independent contractors in the School of Psychology. The primary responsibility of adjunct faculty hired for this position will be to guide doctoral students in the School of Psychology through the completion of their master's degree integrative project or their doctoral comprehensive exam and dissertation. Faculty hired for this position will have no differentiation from teaching faculty except by work assignments and they will be expected to complete all training required of all adjunct course instructors. Those faculty who join us in this capacity will develop expertise in on-line mentoring and teaching and will become members of the HASOP academic community.
Depending on the applicant's experience and professional qualifications, assignment as a dissertation committee member may be required prior to appointment as a dissertation chair. Adjunct faculty hired for this position may also have the opportunity for employment as residency faculty instructors and course instructors but the initial assignment will be as either a mentor (integrative project or comps. and dissertation chair) and/or a dissertation committee member. Assignments as course instructors may be available after a period of successful mentoring and training to those faculty who have needed expertise and who are developed to meet Capella / HASOP course room standards.
